A few weeks ago, actually before the elections,it was one of those days where my inner comic came out,  and I was in a jovial mood, which inspired me to write this funny article about Islam.

However after posting the article, I suddenly realized that I may have deeply some jihadi living in the Bay, which could end up in me getting death threats, or even spark off protests around the world. You see, most people do not realize that as a journalist, you are risking your life when you are criticize Islam over even the smallest of things.

Not only that, but the Bay Area boasts the largest concentration of Muslim’s in the United States, and so I had a good reason to worry that Jihadi’s might come after me.So yesterday I decided to look up death threats that had happened to other reporters to see how valid my concerns about death threats were.I went on “Front Page Magazine” looking for journalists pushing for a more moderate Islam, only to find 6 reporters and the people who have spoken about moderate Islam, only to find they have all recently received death threats.

Radical jihadi’s living in the United States threatened beheading, and even extermination of anyone who speaks out against Islam over minor things such as a cartoon they disapprove of, and the death threats can go on for years, until the person is actually murdered. While I agree, it is rude to insult other people's religious beliefs, why is it ok for muslims to refer to Christians and Jews as infidels and pigs, while they aren't even arrested for issuing death threats, which is a huge hate crime.

Upon reading about the six people in the United States being threatened by radical muslims, I have decided to limit my focus to more serious issues that are less likely to incur death threats, such as talking about Islamic terrorists, and the upcoming vote in Iraq.

It’s interesting because over 90% of Muslims in the United States voted for Obama, even though he is pro gay marriage, and being gay would get you killed in the countries they came from. The other interesting thing I found was that while Muslims in the United States wanted to see Obama who is black elected, and consider the United States progressing in civil rights, they do not support the concept of an elected democracy in Iraq, and think Saddam’s dictatorship was better than having elections in Iraq, which occur in 2009.

While I don’t give really care too much about democracy in Iraq, I believe that America’s contribution to them having a democracy is probably one of the only good things coming out of the invasion. The rest is crap. So why haven’t America’s Shia’s and Kurds mentioned how glad they are that Iraq’s Shia population is getting representation in Iraq?

Iraqi’s vote for the first time in Iraq history

While Muslims in the United States support Obama and democracy, they certainly do not show any visible signs of support the concept of a democracy in Iraq in the American media or otherwise.

They also do not show appreciation for our troops role in helping to shape a democracy, and making it possible to occur. Over 400,000 Iraqi’s died during Saddam Hussein’s rule, and that’s not including deaths in the Iran Iraq war or during Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait. They do not care about the 500,000 children who starved to death during the 12 year sanctions by the UN. Nope. If they had appreciation, then they would write good news about it in the press.

The lack of US Muslims here and abroad who don’t spread good news about how we helped shape the Iraqi vote is another reason why I do not believe we should have gone to Iraq. Pretty thankless task if you ask me.
